I am writing to invite you to the First Annual Golf Outing for our non-profit Friends of Public School Harlem Inc. This organization is the manifestation of my passionate commitment to the Harlem community and has been at the center of our philanthropy for the last 15 years. Harlem’s public schools are vastly under-resourced and the children who attend them are some of the poorest in the city. It is not a level playing field for them, and we have tried to do our part by providing school supplies for thousands of kids, by donating computers where none exist, and by supporting programs like music and the arts that have been eliminated through budget cuts and other limitations.
Every dollar that we raise is used to purchase the above resources, and there are no salaries paid or administrative costs as we donate our Organization's personnel and premises to run the operation. We do wonderful work for the children in these schools and are very proud of our accomplishments.
This year I am calling on all of our friends and business associates to help us and the children of Harlem through our Golf Fundraiser. We hope to raise over $50,000, which will then get a matching grant from the Migdol Family Foundation, and this sum will vastly assist these children in their ability to get an education and to improve their standing in a world that threatens to leave them behind.
We will be honoring Harlem’s US Congressman Adriano D. Espaillat, its State Senator Brian A. Benjamin and one of its strongest public school supporters Councilman Bill Perkins. Our entertainment is first class, all of whom have roots in the community, and possibly best of all is the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, Saint Andrews, in Hastings-on-Hudson. It’s a golfers paradise and a once in a lifetime experience that shouldn't be missed.
Please be as generous as you can; it will be much appreciated by the children, by the schools, and by The Friends of Public School Harlem Inc. But on a personal level, I am asking for 18 of my closest friends and associates to donate $3,500 to become a sponsor for one of these magnificent golf holes (out of the 18 holes, 14 remain available for sponsorship as of now). This would include four golfers, a sign on the tee box, and a souvenir pin flag like the one shown below. This would mean so much to me and our team.
Thank you for your support,
