Harlem, New York — November 11th, 2020 — Friends of Public School Harlem has partnered with Latinas & Líderes, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, to donate supplies to at-need students in the Dominican Republic. The donation of 30 bags and kits of school supplies went to support educational efforts in Santo Domingo, the largest city in the country.
“When students in the Dominican Republic and the rest of the world are provided with leadership and educational opportunities they are empowered and inspired,” says Betty Lugo, Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit. “The bags and supplies went to very needy children. Thank you Friends of Public School Harlem so much!”
The recent donation is part of an ongoing collaboration between Friends of Public School Hatlem and Latinas & Líderes. Plans are currently in the works for additional donations of backpacks and school supplies, as well as Covid-19 relief supplies.
The mission of Latinas & Líderes includes empowering and inspiring girls from under-resourced communities in the Dominican Republic, allowing them to obtain the tools and skills for becoming leaders of their own lives, families, and communities.
