FPSH and FDNY Organize Gift Giveaway

Harlem, New York — December 24th, 2020 — Friends of Public School Harlem partnered with The Migdol Organization, the Marine Toys 4 Tots Program, and FDNY’s Vulcan Society on Wednesday, December 23rd to give out toys to Harlem’s children this holiday season. The event took place outside on Lexington Avenue between 130th and 131st streets.

Families showed up in large numbers to bring children to the event and help them receive toys and some holiday cheer. A firetruck was on the scene with Santa and his helper for kids to pose for pictures. A DJ was also present to fill the air with lively and festive music.

The event is part of a more than 15-year tradition of members of The Migdol Organization and FPSH participating in community giving around the winter holidays. The FDNY helped to organize and run the event. Toys were donated by FPSH and the Marine Toys 4 Tots program. Toys 4 Tots works to help bring joy and hope to children across America during the holidays. It generously collects new toys for distribution at sponsored events.

District Leader Keith Lilly was in attendance along with FPSH Board Member Korey Wise of “The Exonerated Five”. Many members of the FDNY were also on hand to distribute gifts and serve the community.

“I always look forward to our gift giveaways,” said District Leader Lilly. “This year especially, with everything that’s going on in the world, we’re happy to help brighten the holiday season for kids and families in Harlem.”

The event is one of many toy drives organized by FPSH and The Migdol Organization this holiday season. The organizations recently held another highly-attended gift giveaway partnered with the NYPD on December 18th.
